  Historical Sites

There are many historical sites, churches, towers, towns, museums in Corsica ranging from the bronze age, and before, to Greek, Roman, Genoese, Napoleonic etc... Below are a couple of Bronze age sites which are only a few minutes drive from the camping.

Castellu d'Araghju

Can you wait while I get the tomato sauce from my tent

Above the village of Araggio is one of the largest and most complete of Corsica's Torréen (bronze agewere's the party 1600 BC) fortresses, it's a bit of a climb up the steep path as the fortress is at 245m, about a 20min walk from the road. Surrounding the fort is a circular wall, on average 2m thick and 4m high, with a large covered entrance, inside there are rooms and steps to a walkway from which there are extensive views of the mountain and the Porto-Vecchio area.
5 mins from the camping to the start of the walk.

Torre

Torre is the place from which the bronze age (1600 BC) Torréens were given their name. The best preserved and most complete of the Torréen fortresses in Corsica, semi-circular and built up against a granite mass, it has retained some of its stone roofing slabs.

5 mins from the camping.
